Overview
I've become a little obsessed with puzzle boxes of late and wanted to make one a bit like a clever one I saw in a video, which had a novel unlocking mechanism I'd never seen utilised before.
However, whilst this box can be unlocked using this novel approach, I've found it can also be unlocked using a more familiar technique, so I'm thinking of ways I can solve this for a later iteration.
However this box is still quite fun to print and play with. It consists of a 3cm cube of two parts: the box and the lid joined with a simple dovetail. The lid is held in place by two pins that must be positioned correctly to allow the lid to slide open.
Version 2
This version removes one of the top holes and moves the bottom two holes to the sides of the base. The dovetail is slightly improved.
To assemble the box, place one pin in the deeper base hole and one in the deeper lid hole, so that they sit flush and do not protrude. Then carefully hold the lid pin in place whilst you slide it onto the box. Once the lid is aligned with the base the puzzle is set.
Solution
I have provided the soletion here ROT13 encrypted. If you wish to see it simply copy and paste the encrypted text to your favourite ROT13 website, e.g. http://rot13.com/.
