print in vase mode. printed with flexible filaments bought from ebay. one is sebs and the other one i do not know what it is. they have low friction and high strength, the ideal flexibility and rigid enough for this purpose. before this i made exoskeleton that really look like a extra set of bones and joints on the limbs, but this one is like a skin, a lot practical and comfortable to wear and use, like snug fitting moving gloves.
the tendons are like real biological tissue in movement tolerance.
moved by muscle wires (connected to the tendons). when the sma is activated by hot liquid, gas burner is used and not ideal to carry around. heated by battery each finger needs 3 Amp. the same principal and design can be applied to elbows, hips and other joints.
can be used for rehabilitation after for stroke patients, , in this application the exoskeleton can be powered by main ac.
the muscle wires have strengthen greater than that of the biological muscles of the hand.
arduino or nodemcu is used for controlling. hooked up to ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY ELECTROMYOGRAPHY SHIELD FOR DUINOMITE, PINGUINO, MAPLE, ARDUINO LIKE DEVELOPMENT BOARDS, the little chips handed things well.
tried with 12v portable car jump start battery (from ebay, 4HA, on paper, seems no performance advantages over sla 12 7HA battery, but a lot lighter).
can use motors as well, with the limitation of motors, but are a lot efficient when battery power is concerned.
