This was an experiment, so beware... I wanted to experiment with "spiral vase" mode with my 1.2mm volcano nozzle, and also wanted to learn how to parametrically generate shapes in OpenSCAD. This was the result. The shape is entirely generated mathematically in openscad, once facet at a time! If you want to play with this, download and READ the *.scad file - it's well commented and has a lot of config options, but is only about a page long.
Warning: this design does not produce a closed STL file, just the perimeter. I rely on Slic3r to close the object for me, then print with two solid bottom layers and the rest in spiral vase mode. It happens to turn out the way I want - but only "happens to". YMMV.
The shape itself is the product of two sinusoidal waves, with the period and amplitude configurable.
