This is a small sport hovercraft that is simple to build and decently fast and agile.
Materials:
2x 1407 brushless motors
2x 15a brushless ESC
2x 3in prop
1x 9g servo
1x at least 2ch receiver
1x battery connector(I used an xt30)
1x 3s or 4s lipo about 1000mah
1x servo "Y" harness
1x plastic trash bag
1x velcro or other battery restraint
misc soldering supplies
epoxy, CA, or hot glue
Tools Required:
soldering iron
wire cutters
wrench
small screwdriver
corresponding hex driver for motors
Building Instructions:
First, print out all pieces and remove any support. Next, glue the rear motor housing in place, it should be very secure. Also, screw in the motors. For the rear motor, route the wires down the hole in the back. For the front motor, zip tie the wires to the underside of the spoke pointing back. (the electronics will be on the bottom) Wire both ESC power leads in parallel going to the battery connector. Solder each motor to its corresponding ESC and check its direction. (if the motor is spinning the wrong way, simply swap any 2 wires) plug both ESC receiver connectors into a "Y" harness that goes to the throttle channel on your receiver. If you wish to have the lift motor on a separate channel, don't use the "Y" harness. Take the servo and screw it into the mount in the back with it facing up and the output on the back. Plug your servo into your steering channel. Get any servo horn and cut off the sides. Glue the middle part into the hole in the rudder. Finally, when your servo is centered, screw down the rudder. Next, place a thin bead of hot glue along the inner ring of the skirt frame and glue it to a large piece of trash bag plastic. Cut out a border about 1.5in from the outer ring. Finally, fold and glue the plastic on the top of the outer ring. Cut out the middle of the inside ring. When you are done with the skirt, it should pocket running along the inside and the middle empty. Last, when all the electronics are done(they should be mounted to the underside to hovercraft) the battery connector is poking out the hole in the top, use a glue like hot glue to glue the skirt in place. (it is temporary because the skirts wear out) Add what battery restraint system on top you want and set up your radio.
Note: Moving the center of gravity around will change how it turns and handles. Experiment until you find what works best.
