TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZED SIDE BRACKET.
The gyms are closed here in South Africa so I set out to make my own pull-up bar.
DESIGN INTENT:
-This bracket is designed to support a cantilever beam holding a pull up bar.
-The cantilever beam is already structurally secure due to the wall mount wood extending below the cantilever. However, I would like to alleviate the load on the screws attaching the beam to the wall mount.
-Plus why not over-engineer something...
note:
-I am currently running several studies on different types of bracket shapes and attachment locations to support the pull up bar so this is one of several uploads.
-When I print these I will re-update the post with photos if the part survived a static load test.
STRUCTURAL DESIGN:
-The load is transferred from the beam to the brackets by a through bolt (see pictures)
-Each bracket is simulated with ABS plastic and a factor of safety of 2 to hold 31kg or 70lbs. In theory this means the bracket will fail at twice the load.
-Actual results will vary with print orientation/settings along with I only have PLA + filament.
Bounding Box (Dimensions):
Length: 2.8cm
Width: 13.8cm
Height: 15.8cm
