Unsung hero, with a lot of presence, the RAF’s first 4 engined heavy bomber of WW2. The Stirling first flew 14 May 1939. A very large aircraft for the time, and impressively tall on its long undercarriage legs. A lot has been written about the wing, but the upside was that it was very agile at its limited operational height and could out turn the twin engined opposition, providing it saw them first. The model represents LJ525 R-Roger –“Jolly Roger” of 199 Sqdn, 100 Group. Used on RCM operations (now called ECM), jamming and spoofing its way across Europe from May 1944 to Feb 1945. The long U/C legs and the Gouge flaps retract with fairly accurate geometry. The bomb bay doors also operate. All on and click. I’ve put in cockpit detail to make it more interesting to explore. #Aeroplane #Aircraft #Airplane #Bomber #dynamic #ECM #RAF #Short #Stirling #WW2
