Don't print horizontal. Scale down the x, y, and z axes to 10%, rotate 90 degrees and print it vertical.
This doesn't serve much purpose other than looking cool and has some toy value. It creates patterns of reflected light that look different based on various angles relative to a light source. It works better than the pictures show. Maybe it would make a nice ornament with a hole added. Thank you to the original developer for sharing this interesting thing.
I wanted to print a small quick to print version to play around with so I cut the original mesh roughly square (its about 0.5mm out of square) and added sides in an attempt to join the upper and lower wave meshes. Printing it vertically results in interesting lighting effects and I found that the waveform is visible on both sides... I have included my Fusion 360 file I made to modify the waveform mesh in case someone wants to change that.
It took me just under 3 hours when printed in high quality. It came out nice. It can print much faster at a larger layer height but I have not tried to. I might try other layer heights also and maybe darker or black filament to see the lighting effect even better.
Enjoy!
