A self leveling tamping station designed for the 49mm basket of a pre-millenium (generation 2) La Pavoni Lever Espresso machine.
The basket sits flat in the base and the funnel screws on top. The funnel was designed with a straight cylinder that's the same width as the inner diameter of the La Pavoni basket after shrinkage (designed at 50mm diameter).
The tamper fits into the funnel with limited play and ensures that your tamp is level. The tamper has vertical grooves to mitigate the air tight seal while tamping. The tamper was designed also with shrinkage in mind (49.85mm diameter). With my Prusa MK3S and eSun PLA+, it fits perfectly in the basket after shrinkage.
Edit: Added a new tamper that's slightly tapered at the base (49.85mm to 49.5mm over 10mm) to better fit the strietman basket I just got today. This one has deeper vertical grooves to mitigate the airtight fit of the original tamper that could cause puck jump.
Edit2: Added the fusion 3d source file. It's a bit messy, but at least it's there.
Edit3: Added a new 49.85 straight walled tamper and a tamper with a curved face. Print the curved face tamper upside down.
Edit 4: Added a new base with even more air holes. I was seeing chaff come up through the pile of grounds while tapping to settle indicating that air was getting pushed up through the grounds. Adding more air holes helps prevents this.
