De Havilland DH110 Sea Vixen FAW2. An 18 ton brute, and a double boomer in more ways than one. Said to be the World's first supersonic twin jet, and supersonic two seat jet. Designed as a replacement for the De Havilland Mosquito in the late 1940's, it first flew in 1951. This one is a model of the last flying example, painted in its original colours and with original registration of its Royal Navy days with 899 Sqn. When it was a FAW2 on HMS Eagle until 1972. It was converted to a target drone D3 late in life, with a lot of the military kit and weight removed. With uprated Rolls Royce Avon engines was supersonic in level flight, and it never had afterburner. The model represents it as it was during its Navy career with full military kit. There's a lot of interior detail, and for fun I've put in a lot of dynamic components. ( , , and click on many parts and they operate) These are folding wings, retractable undercarriage, arrestor hook, airbrake, ram air turbine, sliding canopy and opening navigator hatch, opening radome and radar service hatches, and finally, full motion radar. It also looks good in , , , the radar can be switched on with the radome closed by clicking on the small antenna in front of the nosewheel. It's intended to be educational, and dedicated to a couple of my friends who flew in them. Enjoy and please rate. #Aircraft #Aircraft_Carrier #Avon #Carrier #De_Havilland #dynamic #ejection #Engine #firestreak #Fleet #HMS #Jet #missile #Navy #radar #RAF #Rolls_Royce #seat #Supersonic #Turbine
