This is my Sea of Thieves Music box I created using 3d printed parts along with a wooden box from michaels
Link to it working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOMFXEI7GuM
Link to explanation video showing how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tot6BvcMXzA
Parts list:
Wooden box (Michaels, $3.79)
Raspberry pi zero w (microcenter, $5)
Adafruit speaker bonnet i2s (microcenter $12.95)
28byj-48 stepper motor with uln2003 driver (microcenter $6.99)
2 4ohm 3w speakers ($5? Had them laying around from a old project)
Acrylic paint and brushes ( Michaels $5)
Skateboard bearings (local skate shop $5, just ask to buy some old bad ones)
~5 dollars 3d printer filament
Hot glue (more than I'd like to admit)
Painters/masking tape
Some extra wire
Total cost a little under 50 factoring everything minus tools. You can do this project for more like 20-30 dollars if you do audio a cheaper way (a cheap lowpass filter and speaker setup can be less than a few dollars if you diy it and the stepper motor is cheaper online than the store I bought it at)
Tools:
3d printer (kinda hugely necessary for this project)
Soldering iron
Exacto knives (used these for everything during the project hence the band-aid on finger)
Paint and brushes
Hot glue gun
Needlenose pliers
Dremel
Screwdrivers
Files
Calipers
