These are the stl files for a 3D Printed Rubber Band Gun, originally designed by OGG Craft in wood, and with free plans online. I have taken the plans and redrawn them in CAD to convert to stl files for 3D printing.
The original design, called for a lot of wood pieces and gluing of sub-assemblies. However for 3D printing, I have taken all the parts and condensed them to be single pieces so to make the assembly of the 3D printed rubber band gun easy and precise.
I gave it a nice facelift, rounded the edges of the right and left handle, as the original design was pretty rectangular and with sharp square edges. I also changed the rectangular basic handle for a more tapered and robust handle, and added some aesthetical details to make it more interesting. I also added additional 3mm OD perforations, as logical for a more bolt on assembly (the original is glue on being that is is made from wood). You can use M3 screws or pins at 100% scale or M2 screws or pins at 50% scale.
The mechanical ratched system by OGG was left intact with the exception of tweaking the sliding ratched cam design, a bit, to be more precise and fluid on the 3D printed parts.
The trigger was done in 2 parts they simply interlock and no need to glue since they ride inside the gun channel of the center piece and the trigger assembly is kept in place by the right and left handles.
I layed out the STL files as follows:
Right Handle.stl, Left Handle.stl and Guts.stl
The guts has all the parts that go in between the R/L Handle.
All the pieces were designed to have a flat side and so they are laid out on the flat side so no undercuts that require supports, for a clean print and fit.
Although much of the sub-assemblies have been simplified (combined) as single pieces, and no longer as the the original sub-assemblies, the assembly is still pretty much straight forward, if you follow the diagrams that OGG Craft has at this link:http://oggcraft.jp/eng/eng_howto_aioh_1.html
But if you have questions as to the build. I'd be happy to help you.
