This is a rotation to linear motion transforming device that I invented, designed and built for a Robotics competition at Umeå University, Sweden. The device is going to be used for popping balloons by mounting a needle on the anterior end of the shaft.
In addition to the 3d printed parts, you will need:
x1 DC Motor (see example link below)
x2 623 Bearings
x1 LM6UU Bushing
x4 M4 Threaded rods á 120mm
x1 M6 Smooth rod á 65mm
x8 M4 Nylock nuts
x8 M4 Nuts (+2 for the mounting holes)
x2 M3 Screw á 16mm
x2 M3 Screw á 12mm
x1 M3 Screw á 20mm
x1 M3 Threaded rod á 45mm
x2 M3 Washers
x6 M3 Nuts (preferably 3 Nylock nuts for the bearing mounting holes)
The DC Motor that I used
I advise you to put washers between the M3 screws/nuts and 3d models, since it decreases the wear and tear that may occur from clamping.
I have included a dwf file in the download to make it easier for you to know where every component should go.
I wish I had made a tutorial in how to build this from scratch, but I simply forgot to make one.
I have included a no-text version of the anterior mount.
Hope you like it!
