Quick note, the strange bridges seen in the center cutout sections shouldn't be there, but they also do not print out, so not a problem. Seems to be some error in reading the .obj file, assuming something to do with the boolean used in 3ds max for cutout
This is a small cap for the couplers used in Mike Kelly's Robo3D Auto-Level Mod (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:349935).
I had issues where the only coupler I could find to fit my 5/16 threaded rod had outer dimensions to fit an 11mm wrench, and the Robo3D uses a 5/16 nut that fits a 13mm wrench.
Originally, I tried just recreating the entire mount to include the cap, not thinking that this design would eliminate my ability to adjust the height of the micro-switch. Obviously, that didn't work. So I cut the cap off of one of them and tried it. Worked great.
So I ended up just seperating the cap from the model and printing them out as such. Used these settings:
PLA
Layer Height: .1976mm (due to imperial rod error, fixes step problem, equates to .2mm layer height, but the lower of the two options. The option is .2046, but I find the layers are more likely to separate on thinner pieces at this setting, so I use the closest even step under the layer height I want.)
Fill Density: 100%
Print Speed: 10mm/s
Brim
Have not tried these out yet, but seem to be a perfect fit. For long term use, it may be better to use a different material than PLA, but I haven't worked with any others yet, and am just about to move into ABS once my ventilation gets installed. If anyone knows the best material to use for longevity, please let me know in the comments.
