Here is my DIY ripple tank. You need few things but the total cost is les than £15 ( good alternative for schools that can't afford to buy expensive riple tanks).
Meterials:
A4 clear perspex
DC motor
Tool clip
2 x Extension springs
2 x 4mm bannana sockets
4 x hooks
2 x M5 round headed bolts
In addition you can buy cheap LED stroboscope (about £8 in Maplin Electronics)
