Released in 1980, the Constellation Model 98 is the accurate replica of the classic Mauser Karabiner 98k, chambered in .308 Winchester caliber. After the production of M98 ceased in 1992, Constellation Armory announced a new successor of the Mauser Karabiner, the Model 98 Series II. The M98 SII is chambered in 7.62×39mm M43, features a redesigned rear sight and fixed magazine, with a second handguard, The receiver, bolt and stock of SII is shorter than the original M98, which are not interchangeable. Both M98 and M98 SII are made of high grade carbon steel in packerized finish with chrome lined barrel. The production of M98 SII ceased in 2008, when it had been replaced by the 'Classic' series -- M98 Classic (Kar. 98k chambered in .308 Winchester), M77 Classic (SMLE Mk.III* chambered in .308 Winchester) and M88 Classic (Gew.88 chambered in .308 Winchester). Some of the used M98 and M98 SII rifled are being reconditioned for sale. The MSRP of M98 SII in 2005 is US$ 899. This specific example of M98 SII is manufactured in 1998 at Rangall Gulf Arsenal, and reconditioned in 2013 for export to the Japanese market. #98k #carbine #karabiner #mauser #rifle
