Upgraded to Octopi to run my Makerbot Replicator 2 and had the camera taped to my Replicator 2 for about a year now. It was so close that I had to use a wide angle lens to see the prints. I looked around for a camera mount and couldn't find one that just worked. So I just started looking for any raspberry pi camera arm design that I could use for my needs. I found the one by Bogdan87 and it was really good. I printed it out and just holding it in place I saw that I needed to up just above my top rail for good placement. I didn't want to screw anything into the front of my printer, so I designed a little adapter that I could screw the arm onto the front, and it would just wrap around the top rail and hold itself in place. I can now slide the camera back and forth and angle it as needed. And I still have the wide angle lens I can clip on to see the entire print bed for large prints. :D
I also designed a second openscad file that included the mount from the other design as part of the print, while cutting out even more stuff for when I put a top on the printer. You have to put your path to the mount from the other design for it to render, but I included the finished stl to use as is. It might or might not need some support when you print it, I haven't tried it yet.
