The “Regthuys” (Courthouse) was built in 1684. Like in many other places in the Netherlands, this building combined the functions of Courthouse, Cityhall and “Waag” (where the weights used by merchands were calibrated). On the ground floor the local police was house, as well as the jail. In 1917, the Regthuys was abandonned. The building was in decline and was restored in 1956. Currently, the Historical Society Old Uitgeest uses the top floor (www.ouduitgeest.nl). The ground floor is in used as a wedding hall.
