My SD Card Disintegrated!
Pieces started falling off: the lock switch, then the corners, then the cover! Then I couldn't use it anymore.
Apparently they can wear out :)
Since I had data on it I still wanted (and I'm a cheap SOB), I decided to design/print a new card for the memory chip inside (which is laughingly small compared to the card itself)
First design. First print. And it worked! It fit in the reader and I got all my data off it.
No, I did not replicate the lock switch. It's too small and I think its stupid anyway.
The result may be a little tight in your card reader, but if your in a bind from an exploded SD card and you need that data, then this will give you a good shot at reading it off.
I don't believe this is sturdy enough for repetitive use.
Disclaimer: This worked for me, but may not work for you. Depending on your printer type, quality and tuning, you may not get a usable print. This is a difficult print. I am not responsible for any damage to your SD Card reader, computer, or anything else as a result of trying to print or use this object.
Last Note: I've included the original Sketchup file so can modify it. The inside of your SD card may be different than mine based on capacity, age and manufacturer. I just don't know.
