Ever wanted to monitor your 3D printer without constantly having to get up to check that nothing has gone out of control?
This simple camera holder for the little Raspberry Pi Zero W Sainsmart camera mini just does that.
It is the perfect companion for any 3D printer. It removes the anxiety of having to baby sit the print and allows you to monitor it from remote.
The design was optimised for assembly without screws (only a dash of superglue is needed).
The two halves of the case snap together tightly and the camera is held in place by mini tabs in the front half of the case (just push it gently to avoid breaking it).
In addition the swivel joint allows adjusting the camera firmly into position.
The vents in the front and back of the case allow keeping the RPi cool without the need for an additional fan.
For this project the following hardware and software were used:
Hardware:
Raspberry Pi Zero W
SainSmart Camera Module 5MP Mini Size for Raspberry Pi Zero
Software:
motionEye (available at https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye/wiki).
motionEye with its built-in motion daemon web front end allows for easy install of the OS on your RPi, making it an easy to use IP camera.
