The water tower was designed to resemble a church tower to disguise its location and has become a prominent feature on the landscape since it was built in the 1940s. It was opened in 1937 close to RAF Weston-super-Mare. The water tower appered in many newspapers in 2008 when the MOD sold it at auction. Local residents feared that it would be bought by a property developer and demolished so they tried to place a bid. The residents were unsucessful in buying the water tower but it was bought by a local person who intends to turn it into a house. Unfortunatly the land surrounding the tower has no access because it is owned by a property developer who will not grant access. This means the person who bought it has to wait to find out if the local council will adopt the roads at the development. #Bristol #Locking #MOD #Somerset #Tower #TRM_DA #Water #Weston #WestonsuperMare #WW2
