Tired of the edges of overhangs curling and strands sagging off the bottoms of bridges?
Looking for extreme, tuneable cooling, with double the cooling potential of the Radial Fan Fang?
I really liked supasorn's simple dual-blower cooler design, and when he made it modular with interchangeable ducts I had to adapt it to the FLSun i3. Instead of a separate over-the-fan bolt-on, I stuck the ducts to the sides of my v6 HSF Shroud (I have been thinking about integrating the shrouds in to the RFF for a while). This made it a little harder to print, but the installation is much cleaner, and with a pair of new 5015s that push some actual CFM this thing really blows (I didn't realize how badly the original blower fan performed until I replaced it)! Enjoy!
Included ducts are designed to be used with the e3d v6 or clone hotend upgrade (using my Evolution X carriage (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2251944) or BFAL's lowering holder), 40mm heatsink fan, and a pair of 5015 (12V ~.15A) blower fans.
Wider ducts are better for preventing warping on larger parts, and more focused ducts are better for smaller parts, overhangs, and bridges (for more details read Desi Quintans' http://www.desiquintans.com/coolingtests and http://www.desiquintans.com/coolingtests2).
You can swap from wide-angle ducts to focused cooling in seconds, even mid-print, or run a combination of the two, and make sure to check out the original design (which should be linked on the left there) for instructions on how to modify the ducts to your needs using Fusion 360 and the included source file.
Heater block and bed insulation is recommended to your heaters retain a stable temperature.
Comes a little close to the z-carriage blocks so i gave it a few mm clearance, let me know if you have any fitment issues.
e3d V5 version based on the lo-pro shroud (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2243045) coming soon (tho this would probably work if you get creative and do a little trimming).
Looking to keep it simple and stick with just one blower? Check out my Radial Fan Fang remix, adapted for the FLSun i3 with either the original v5 clone, or v6 hotend: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2239300
If You make it, please post it!
