This is a work in progress.
This is a second quiet retraction extruder mount for the Ultimaker 1. It is inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53690. The idea is absorb the motor vibrations so that the Ultimaker case does not act as a rosonance body. It is planned to have the second extruder a little higher, so there is space for the filament rolls and also that the filament clamp is accessible.
The second version (quiet retraction high) of the mount is reinforced, in case you want to mount more than just the stepper and the usual stuff. Also it leaves more space between the filament roll and the extruder.
Both versions are thought for 608z bearings.
To build an extruder you need either
2x the quiet_retraction_second_estruder.stl
and the middlepiece or
2x quiet_retraction_high.stl
and the middlepiece.
For the bowden clamp use http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17027.
For the large motor gear use http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:25501. The smaller gear is provided along with the extruder stl.
The vibration absorbtion is really phenomenal! Retraction noise is reduced to a minimum.
