I wasn't happy with the quality of chinese QR for my simulator's steering wheel. A friend of mine showed me a design on Youtube (can't find the author now, sorry) so I decided to design it myself for my T500 universal adapter (the 70mm 6 holes standard).
You need a saddle quick-release clamp of 34mm for the actual fit mechanism. I recommend the hub (the female part) to be printed in ABS for more strength and near 100% of infill and a strong pattern (update: previously I was recommending 65% of infill, but that can be too low). The steering adapter (the male part) can be printed in PLA with similar infill if you like.
Both parts fit quite tight. The first attempts will require a bit of effort until the steering adapter gets some wear on the edges. There's also a bit of vacuum effect when you detach the steering from the hub. But once the pieces are fitted, there's no wobble at all (although it's made of plastic, so it won't be as stiff as a metal piece obviously). I've been using it for a month or so, and it works quite well to be honest, so I have decided to share with the community.
UPDATE: version 1.1 (22/01/2018)
My first hub broke while I was playing so I had to make some improvements. New version has more material for the surroundings of the hexagon and I used a fillet for better stress handling on the base. The male part is thinner but so far there is no evidence of weakness.
I would also suggest something with better layer adhesion than ABS like PETG. Or if you use ABS, make sure that the settings allow the best layer adhesion you can achieve.
