This is a set of gears and a holder that was designed by Kris Hardy for Quelab's booth at TEDx Albuquerque 2016. If you received a gear from the booth, you can download these files to create the rest of the gears and the holder. If you have never used a laser cutter or 3d printer before, now's the perfect time to learn! Join us at Quelab and we can teach you how to use the equipment to make you own or design and make anything you want!
For more information about the Quelab Makerspace in Albuquerque, NM, visit http://quelab.net. We are a friendly community of people of all skills, interests and skill sets. Come make with us!
The design was done in Solidworks, then exported to Onshape. The Onshape CAD files are publicly accessible here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/34b824bb6e728ee29653d572/w/548f727f3fdea56c84cccaa1/e/7fb8e61ff48cd9a2e806ac8e. (If you would like to edit the files and make the design your own, you will need to create a free Onshape account by clicking on the "Create Account" button.)
The Solidworks 2013-2014 Pack & Go zip file is downloadable in the Thingiverse files (QuelabBackScratcher-TEDxABQ2016.zip)
There are two gears: QuelabGearLaser and QuelabGear. QuelabGearLaser is intended to be laser cut (due to the higher precision of the laser cutter), and QuelabGear is intended to be 3d printed (the inner hole is larger due to the nonuniformity of most 3d printers). The holder base and top are designed to be 3d printed.
