QUAIL CUTTER
WARNING ! Print and use at your own risk! This is not a toy! Keep it away from children!
If you print this project, and you are happy with the final part, do not forget to buy me a roll of filament - in order for me to be able continue to test and improve these projects or to design new ones! If you are not happy with this design or you have problem with your printed parts - send me a message, we will try to fix it together! :) If you do not want or you can't afford to buy me a roll of filament ... its ok, I still hope you enjoy printing my designs! Pace!
It use two cutter blades. 19X61.
Update 3 Nov 2020: Version "C" have a lip to secure the blade in place. Two versions - for 2.5 and 4mm bolt. Version "D" - the loop is open, and part reinforced - in order to allow the use off cutter on bigger birds!
Also a Blade Guard was added to the file, therefore no cutter can be printed without the blade guard!
It is strongly recommended to keep cutter with guard secured in place, when is not used!
When assembling this cutter, start first by securing the safe guard in place! Only after, proceed with mounting of cutter blades !
Print sample use M4 10mm bolts.
QUAIL CUTTER
On internet are posted "humane" slaughter of quail - video's! Not humane at all. This part was design for a clean and quick cut!
The reason behind this design is the fact that I want to make this process faster, easy and to reduce the bird pain and stress as much possible.
For culling birds I test all accessible culling versions to me - I use to pull the heads off, use knife, use scissors; once I use a hatchet and a wood block!
Currently for quail I use scissors and a set of bleeding cones. My scissors are good, however, sometime they fail to do a proper cut, and I have to cut again or to pull until the head is detached. This is something I do not like. Who use scissors before – know what I am talking about!
I am not shy of killing a bird; I just do not want to make it suffer more than is necessary. I usually process like 60 to 100 birds in one session. I am the one collecting the eggs, see them hatch, feed them … also I am the one to kill them.
I test the Quail Cutting Tool – ( 4th Nov +100 quail) ; tool ensure a fast and a clean cut!
