A public house, normally known by the abbreviation pub (used in Italian for men), is a public place where alcoholic beverages (especially beer) are served to be consumed on the spot, generally comfortably seated. The pubs, which originally originated in the Anglo-Saxon countries (especially in Ireland and the United Kingdom), are now found all over the world. In the small villages of the British countries, pubs are the center of community life. Some pubs invite music groups or singers to entertain customers. If the pub offers rooms to spend the night, it is usually called 'inn' (tavern). Traditionally, games are played in pubs such as darts, skittles, dominoes, cards and billiards, although modern games such as video games or slot machines are taking place today. #pub
