With my original sign project I set out to design something to make with my kids and their friends when they visited Cambridge Makespace. I wanted it to involve laser cutting, 3D printing, electronics and a bit of science. The project was a success and we've made loads of them, however, I wondered if I could also involve a bit of programming and make the signs battery powered plus my kids wanted rainbow lights and so this project was born.
The laser-cut acrylic sign portion of the design remains unchanged from the original but the 3D printed case is expanded to fit in a battery pack, power-switch and BBC Microbit. Plus as programming is more fun with inputs I added a hole for a button at the front of the case.
There are example Micro Python programs here on my github
