This is an extruded version of the original. Is stronger by definition coz there is more material involved.
Printed on a Lulzbot Taz 6 at medium quality. Used testors model glue to glue it together and mounted it on my Prius Prime. Works better than the original which was a little flimsy and was more easily melted on a hot day.
I used Polymaker Polymax material which is pretty strong... have had pieces outside in sunlight for two summers and it's held up fine. If it doesn't work in the car will print ABS... I just don't like ABS around in livable spaces due to fumes, etc. Not a big deal, perhaps, but you've been warned! ABS isn't really that good for you to be around anyway and turns toxic when on fire.
Polymaker Polymax seems to be good, hardened stuff.
Hope you enjoy + thanks to the original maker. His "tendril" approach to hanging onto the dashboard of the Prius Prime shows great promise! Wish some others would adapt and use the technique. Thanks for the original design.
Oh I used Openscad to make this version from the original- coz it takes maybe two minutes to extrude parts like this.
Update, 3/14/2021 - Just wanted to update this and say that this phone holder is working really well in the Prius Prime. Enjoy.
