The Pool Arts Center is a 23,000 square foot building at 940 N. Clay St., at the eastern edge of the Drury campus. Renovations began in fall 2002 and were finished in December 2003 at a cost of $1.9 million. Funding for this project came from 120 donors to the Campaign for the Fine Arts. From 1991 to 2004, the number of art and art history majors at Drury University has nearly doubled. Before Pool Art Center was created, art and art history department classes and studios were housed in eight buildings. The Pool Art Center gallery is 2,500 square feet; nearly double the size of the previous gallery. Exhibitions will feature artists of regional and national stature, works from Drury’s permanent collection and the outstanding work of Drury students. A smaller gallery also can be used for classes. In addition to the galleries, an adjacent lecture hall seats 60 people. The center accommodates painting, drawing, art history, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, digital imagery, photography and faculty teaching studios and offices. #Art #Art_History #Ceramics #Digital_Imagery #Drawing #Drury_University #Graphic_Design #Painting #Photography #Pool_Arts #Pool_Arts_Center #Sculpture
