Plunge router friction lock release

A cable operated friction lock for use when my plunge router is mounted under a router table. It is extremely difficult to try and operate the friction lock lever whilst trying to set the height of the cutter, especially if you have a large heavy duty router with strong springs. This mechanism is designed for my particular router so will have to be adapted for other models. In order to fit the mechanism I will have to drill and tap two M3 fixing holes into the aluminum casting of the router body. This mechanism is used in conjunction with a lift mechanism also designed by me, which uses a very small scissor jack mounted on a shelf below the router. Update: Unfortunately I was unable to mount the device as I intended, by drilling and tapping two holes in the router body, because the alluminium casting is too thin. So I removed one of the router plunge handles and designed a simpler mechanism attaching it to the existing handle retaining holes and it works a treat. Hope you find the concept usefull. #mod #release_mechanism #router #router_table
