there are multiple benefits to mounting the mobilephone like a pendulum, this quick draw belt clip phone holster pivots freely along the camera axis. as the wearer walks, inertia causes the phone to swing in front of a high power magnet, which in turn induces a current in the charging coils standard to the lumia820. the phone OS can be modified slightly to recognize and monitor this field effect as a battery charge source. the pendulum motion also affects the standard lumia820 accelerometer, and this action can be used as an accurate pedometer. knowing stride length and timing could be useful to a variety of different applications including gaming. the pendulum pivot point was purposely centered on the main camera lens. this makes the holster useful as a steadycam. the steadycam can be used worn on a waistbelt, or hand held. either way, gravity will aid in stabilizing camera orientation.

the holster is made predominantly of folded sheet aluminium. the belt clip is sheet steel, and there is a closed cell polyurethane foam mating surface that cushions the phone screen, as well as acting as a compression spring that effectively locks the phone in place. the pivot will have a simple nylon bearing to minimize friction.
