These are cups specially designed for the Philips SHP9500 headphones to turn them from open to closed headphones whenever you want! While the sound signature does change a bit, and the soundstage will shrink [as you would expect if they suddenly became closed] - they still sound good - and isolation is much better.
The process I used to dampen my cups was...
coat / paint the inside of the cup with plasti-dip
put a layer of sound-deadoning [or melamine] foam in the bottom.
cover the foam with a thin layer of cotton [aprox 1 cotton ball pulled apart].
cut out and glue a layer of felt around the outside.
place a small (5-10mm^2) piece of electrical tape as a treble reflector on the inside middle of the felt before gluing (or on the outside if you want to experiment).
Adhere the retention rings to the outer rings of the headphone cups by the method of your choosing. I am not responsible for any damage you do to your headphones while attempting to apply or use this mod.
