Proactive Fire Prevention and User Safety when using Hobs, Grills,and Ovens
According to fire and rescue services (FRSs) 2017/18 report, dwelling fires(i.e. residential) constitute to 41% (30,343) of total primary fires in England.The English housing survey (2016/17) states majority (86%) of fires in dwellings (332,000) are started inside the house or flat. Of these fires two thirds (67%) are started in the kitchen and more likely caused by cooking related activities. 40% of fire-related fatalities in England were 65 years old and over (2017/18), compared with 19% of all non-fatal causalities.The demography of the incidents has pointed to the independently living elderly on one end of the spectrum to student accommodations on the other,as the potential cause of the fires. How does your project align with the scope of this competition?equipment/device was only reactive and had a very limited means of notification to the users. With the evolution of technology, safety systems require to be revamped to be pro-active, rather than reactive. The intention is to prevent damage and loss of equipment and the lives of users.
