Panasonic N2QAYB00057210302A Remote Control Battery Cover
This is a battery cover for the above-named remote control. Ours broke when it was dropped on the floor, and we have an older 3D TV which is difficult to control with generic controllers; the original manufacturer's part sells for about £50 in the UK so that was my motivation for this design. Also, I wanted to learn FreeCad having previously been an OpenSCAD user.
I flipped the STL of the cover 180 degrees before slicing and printing.
Status (Important)
This isn't finished item but the first one I did which clicked in and didn't fall out (or break the clip). You'd be better off buying a new battery cover (if you can find one) or a new remote control (if you are quite rich).
I'd encourage you to download the FreeCad file and improve the design. It's the first time I've used this application, so if you wouldn't mind sending me your improvements I'd be greatly obliged.
The photographs are of a draft-printed component (0.2mm z-step, higher speeds) so it's a bit rough. The marking on the bottom reminds me I really should replace the tape on the bed.
To Do
The photographs show the most urgent modifications:
The cover is almost 1mm too short.
The triangular section used to make the cut at the clip end of the cover doesn't match up with the actual control (which is very curvy in almost all dimensions and a nightmare for the novice FreeCad user!).
The clip could be a bit thinner, especially if printed in something a bit more bendy than PLA so it won't crack when pulled back.
History
22nd May 2017: Freecad file edits: made cover 1.2mm longer (freecad file only); adjusted clips -- now slightly bigger for more positive closure. STL file still old version.
