Palatul a fost construit între anii 1762-1776 de inginerul Johann Michael Neumann după planurile arhitectului austriac Franz Anton Hillebrandt. Împreună cu Șirul Canonicilor și Bazilica Romano-Catolică, formează Complexul Baroc - cel mai mare complex de clădiri construite în acest stil arhitectural din România. Între 1971 şi 2004, acesta a adăpostit Muzeul Țării Crișurilor. Din 2004 a revenit la scopul iniţial, de reședință a Episcopiei Romano-Catolice.The palace was built between 1762 and 1776 by engineer Johann Michael Neumann following the plans of the austrian architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt. Together with the Canonical Row and the Roman Catholic Church, Baroque complex, form the largest complex of buildings built in this architectural style in Romania. Between 1971 and 2004, it housed the Crisurilor Museum. In 2004 it was returned to the original purpose of residence of the Roman Catholic Diocese.A palota 1762 és 1776 között épült Johann Michael Neumann mérnök vezetésével, Franz Anton Hillebrandt osztrák építész tervei alapján.
