Pachyrhinosaurs lakustai is a genus of ceratopsian, or horned dinosaur, from the Cretaceous Period that bore large bosses on their nose and eyes instead of the usual horn cores associated with Triceratops and its kin. There are three known species - P. pretorum, P. canadensis, and P. lakustai. They were fairly large animals that ranged from present-day northern Montana all the way into Alaska. Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai is notable for its frill ornamentation, which is more dramatic than in other species, and for having a space between its eye and nose bosses. It hails from the Wapiti formation in Alberta. While it was alive, the Western Interior Seaway was receding, leaving behind wetlands, peat swamps, river deltas, estuaries, and other wet environments in a subtropical climate. Like all ceratopsians, Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai had a battery of specialized teeth that allowed it to process tough vegetation such as cycads.
