This model depicts the community of Overtown as it appeared in 1940. It is built based off of Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps with a color-coded depiction of the black community at that time. - The dark blue streets are meant to delineate what has anecdotally been considered the area of Overtown. - The light blue buildings indicate structures that have been linked to members of the black community through city directory data and census records.
