I recently bought a used Tektronics TDS320. But the original probes cost almost as much as the machine. So i picked up a couple of cheap 100MHz probes off ebay. Problem is that the p6109b probes that are recommended for use with the Oscilloscope have a special pin on the BNC connector that tells the scope its attenuation level (1, 10, 100x, etc) and the cheap Chinese probes obviously don't.
Looking into how the pin tells the scope its level (with some help from the EEVBlog forum) I found that it is just a resistor between the BNC ground and the ring around the BNC on the scope itself.
So I made this to hold a through hole resistor next to the BNC. Where it friction fits to hold the plastic and one lead of the resistor in place. while using the other resistor lead to contact the ring on the scope.
I'm including the sketchup file for anyone who may want to modify this design.
