I use the original iPad for Shortwave listening and wanted to get it off the table top. The two size brackets are due to mainly forgetting about the volume control which I don't use in my application. (designed the lower bracket first) The larger bracket is the lower one to support the weight, ; ) (sounds like a good cover) The smaller bracket is the top and has a slide for the mounting screw. Tighten the top mounting screw where the top bracket will move with force to hold the iPad in place. I flanged the mounting screw holes to use #10 flat head screws however, #8 dome head screws should work fine also.
The rear mounting is .125" thick allowing the power/charger cord to be routed between the brackets if needed. (see picture)
I have placed 4) 3/8" recesses on each bracket for self adhesive felt pads to hold the iPad better.
I printed the brackets with PLA using .2 mm Layer Height and at 10% Fill.
NOTE: You could also just print two of the upper brackets for the mount, they are heavy duty enough and save some material.
