The OpenZ V16c, originally by Guaro3D is a great concept, but when built it has a very large turn radius. As I could not figure out how to print a rear differential that fit on a 1:27th scale vehicle (yet) I realized I could use a dead axle, changing the basic design to have only one wheel under power and the other wheel free spinning on a bearing attached to the axle.
This results in a tighter turn radius, but does have a loss of traction.
For those that wish both wheels to have drive gears (a live axle, simply print out the solidbearing.stl and sub it for bearings in the left wheel.)
To complete this design you will need a 3mm metal axle, cut to 69.50mm with threads cut using a tap and die set, two nuts that match the thread that you cut.
(home depot has a 3mm die in its hardware section made by irwin. you can also find these on amazon)
Simply print the wheels, spacer, spur gear and gear drive, place them on the axle in order with the bearings in place on the motor pod and in the left wheel, and tighten both nuts.
included are the front and rear wheel design.
be advised, this project may change as I find better designs. The gear teeth are suspect right now, but I have found they hold up very well in PETG but have worked in PLA.
