The building of this huge medieval cathedral began in 1096. By 1140, the cathedral was complete. The cloisters were rebuilt with what are now the only two-storey cloisters in England, after the original cloisters were virtually destroyed in a great riot in 1272, and the stone spire replaced earlier wood and lead spires in 1480. The spire, at 315 feet tall, is the second tallest in England after that of Salisbury cathedral. Although not the longest, It is 461 feet (140m) long. About the model: Many hours were spent producing this model, but there are still many compromises. The staircases to the refectory are not modelled, and the many murals and detailed roof bosses in the cloisters are also left out to keep the file size sensible. At the same time, I wanted to produce a model that when viewed not too closely, would look fairly realistic, and I hope others think I have achieved this. Norwich cathedral is an amazing, incredible monument to mans' achievements and abilities of centuries ago. I hope you get the chance to visit yourselves one day. Thank you for reading, and for your kind ratings. #Catedral #Cathedral #cathédrale #Church #England #Kathedrale #Medieval #Norman #Norwich #UK #собор
