N8396A - Credit to all contributors. W/O 14 Oct. 2004 as Pinnacle Airlines Flight 3701 when two pilots, during a repositioning flight, had what could only be described as a 'joyride' when they put the aircraft through several maneuveres until reaching an altitude of around 41,000ft. This being the aircraft type's max operating altitude, and the aircraft already very overstressed, it suffered a dual engine failure at this altitude. The altitude was more than enough to glide to a suitable airport, however fixated on the issue of trying to restart the engines both pilots wasted time and, in turn, lost the chance for a safe landing. The aircraft glided until finally striking near a neighbourhood, killing both pilots and destroying the aircraft.
