I have a 5 year old Nikon Prostaff 3-9 X 40 rifle scope without the thumb-adjustable turret knobs..... This is not fire-tested, but works well on the bench. Probably will be better than using a nickle to adjust windage / elevation, as you wont have to move your eye from the scope.

These knobs worked great; Last week I finally got my .223 hitting steel from 100 yards. I adjusted by using the "dust clouds" of impacts on the dirt hill behind the 12" steel pig target until I got it on steel. Now I need to fine tune with paper targets. Having the knobs made this quick and easy - about 5 minutes and 20 rounds.
May 2016 UPDATE:
Spring Diameter: 13.26 mm / 0.522" (+/-)
Spring Free Length: 19.24 mm / 0.757" (+/-)
Spring Wire Diameter: 0.82 mm / 0.0325" (+/-)
I just used this one set of knobs to sight in a Kel-Tec SU-16 5.56 and an AR-15 5.56. These knobs made it so easy to get on bulls eye quickly.
Note: I made this to fit some springs I already had. Next time I take them off, I will measure them so that you can locate the correct spring...... Or possibly redesign this for readily available springs.
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.
