Here is an upgrade of my childhood toy, a nikko jet gale 91, at the third foto is the comparasion of the original motor and the mabuchi motor, a very cheap option to do some Maker proyects like this one.
it works fine with the original propeller, it uses about 10A, which is half the potential of the 540 motor, so i have designed two news propellers, both have the same input angle and output angle, but one of them has 3 blades and the another one has 5 blades, i don´t have tested the 5-blade-prop because with the 3-blade-prop the speed has considerably increased. the power consumption with the 3-blade-prop is around 22A. But my propeller has some disadvantages, it makes the motor to do a lot of torque and it makes the boat to heel over at high speeds, what ends in a constant turn to the right at high speeds, it can be correct but the cornering to the left is worse than to the right. another disadvantage that i have seen with my prop is that sometimes when you go through a wave, a bubble goes to the prop and the motor speeds up without pushing the boat forward. to solve this problem is to easy as taking gas out and giving another time gas.
here are two videos of the boat working:
with original prop:https://youtu.be/Nn-YDuAk7O0
with my designed one:https://youtu.be/jxUaev8fVYs
here you can see the disadvantages described before.
