I have had a lot of problems with under extrusion and just an overall bad experience with the extruder mechanism with this iprinter. I followed other things lead and created a spring loaded Extruder Drive Block Upgrade which has been working great.
Each side requires one of the following:
8mm m3 Flat Head Countersunk Bolt
16mm m3 Flat Head Countersunk Bolt
20mm m3 Flat Head Countersunk Bolt
0.36" OD, 0.042" Wire Size, 0.69" Free Length 28.32 lbs/in compression Spring
I purchased all the hardware from amazon but could be found at most big hardware stores.

09/06/2018 Update
Slight change that makes loading filament much easier. Also change the arm a bit. I have printed this in pla, abs and polymaker pc-max.
03/10/2020 Update
Replaced all models with newest version. Can now adjust tension with a bolt on the side of the extruder without taking it off the carriage. There is a spot for a captured m3 nut inside the tension adjustment area.
