A mushroom emoji; a vegetable that looks similar to a toadstool. A mushroom, or toadstool, is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source. Mushroom was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
