We decided to design a case for glasses that will also be able to work as a wallet and have a position for a pen as well. We made this decision in order to cover the need of carrying your glasses, your credit carts and have a pen in order to take notes anytime you may need it. Τhe space inside the case is quite enough in order to place both sunglasses and eyewear at the same time.
In our case there is a radical innovation in the meaning of glass case. Until now the glass case is a product that can protect the user’s glasses, without any other use. What we propose people now, is to have a glass case that will also works as a wallet and a pen carrier. We live in a society that real money is no more so important, so having a place for the credit cards is enough. The pen is something also very important as it may be needed anytime.
Radical innovation of technology and radical innovation of meanings are closely entagled. Every technology embeds many meanings, some of which are potentially disruptive, although they are not visible at first. The ‘’Multiuse Glass Case’’ effectively combines a radical innovation of meaning with a radical innovation of technology (by using 3D printing), that eventually leads to a Technology Epiphany as Robert Verganti proposes.
The design has been made in cooperation with my fellow student Kosmaras Asterios, for the aims of a project at International Hellenic University.
