This is a 9 part, instructional model of a Lambda Bacteriophage (phage). The three parts included are:
1) Capsid
2) Tail
3) Base (includes baseplate, tail tip, and tail fibers)
The Lambda Bacteriophage has a flexible tail, so for added accuracy, you could print the tail in a flexible resin/filament.
Though They are not as recognizable as the oft-depicted T4 phage, Lambda phages are important both ecologically, and in scientific research.
Bacteriophages are Viruses that infect prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea). Phages are the most numerous biological entities on Earth. The role played by phages in Earth’s ecosystems is not well understood, but is certainly not trivial!
