The GTXR arrives almost a year after the S7 series was lauched, but this car is worth the wait, a proper GTXR, a lightweight race car for the road. It aims to be a better drivers car than anything else in MSX's current range, and achieves this by being lighter, simpler and more powerful than other S71 Taipans.It still has 4 mode MRC taken from the GT6, but it also has a new, simpler, more driver focused dashboard design, and it's DSC now only has on and off modes. To save weight theres no back seat, carpet or sat nav and the bonnet roof and bootlid are aluminium. The rear hatchback has been replaced by fixed rear glass and a conventional bootlid, improving rigidity. The engine is a 574hp 5.9L supercharged V8, the same capacity as every GTXR before it, and it can only be had with a six speed manual, you wont find a dual cluttch transmission here, they don't work in traffic, the streering wheel has no buttons on it, it has regular seat belts, not four point harnesses. With the GTXR you just get in and drive it, you can drive it quickly on any road by simply selecting the MRC setting that works for the smoothness of the road you're on, there's no endless searching through menus like in a GTR or M3. Like the S3 GTXR, the S71 is a short wheelbase fastback and the blue paint and stripes you see here are exclusive to the GTXR. It costs AU$128,990, US$56,750, NZ$138,250, £45,490.
