Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia and is currently active. On top of the volcano, a 7km wide caldera is partially filled by a lake (Segara Anak) and the post-caldera cone of Barujari at the eastern end of the caldera. A massive eruption that formed the caldera in 1257 is a possible trigger of the "Little Ice Age".
